What is Trucker Tools?
Trucker Tools is a leader in load visibility, automated booking, digital freight matching, and carrier engagement for freight brokers, carriers, and shippers. Its Smart Load Board platform uses automation to post and book loads and can instantly notify carriers that match loads based on their location, future routes, and other preferences. More than 350,000 owner-operators and small carriers use the Trucker Tools app to find and book freight, manage replies to offers and bids, and provide location services to brokers and shippers.
What happens to Truckers Tools employees?
Trucker Tools has 40 employees. DAT has invited the entire Trucker Tools leadership team and all employees to join DAT. Trucker Tools CEO Kary Jablonski has joined the DAT executive team and will continue leading the business.
Trucker Tools has talented people who have a passion for bringing truckers and brokers together. We’re excited to have them at DAT.
How will this affect Truckers Tools products and services?
Trucker Tools will operate as a distinct business with its existing name and line of products and services. In time, customers at both organizations will benefit from new resources, expertise, and strategic integration points:
- For DAT, one example is Trucker Tools’ approach to automation and real-time load tracking on the Smart Load Board platform. It’s a best-in-class service for matching loads to available carriers.
- For Trucker Tools, it’s scale. DAT’s resources will supercharge the development of proactive visibility, fraud detection, telematics capabilities, and other services.
At this point, our priority is continuity. We foresee no changes to existing products except to say they will have added resources, expertise, and other support from DAT.
Why is Trucker Tools a good fit for DAT? And vice versa?
- Trucker Tools has a loyal, committed customer base: 750 brokers and 350,000 carriers on the platform.
- Combined, DAT and Trucker Tools will have the largest carrier network in the industry. This is a big advantage for freight brokers and carriers alike.
- Trucker Tools has a number of services that will excite DAT customers, notably a best-in-class solution for
real-time GPS tracking of spot market loads. It helps everyone in the market:
- For brokers: Tracking helps brokers provide better customer service and streamlines communication with carriers. It eliminates the need for check calls, so brokers can focus on covering loads.
- For carriers: Trucker Tools gives carriers efficient load matching, fewer check calls, and the ability to offer real-time shipment tracking.
- DAT gives Trucker Tools the ability to scale, accelerate growth, and bring higher levels of trust, transparency, and efficiency to the market.
What’s the difference between DAT and Trucker Tools' load boards?
Both Trucker Tools and DAT load boards provide valuable opportunities and unique features for finding loads.
- Trucker Tools focuses on automation to help scale carrier rep activity, streamlining workflows and improving efficiency. Both load boards can be used in tandem for the greatest amount of loads and efficiencies.
- DAT One is the industry’s largest marketplace for spot truckload freight, with more than 668,000 loads posted daily and market rates based on $1 trillion in freight transactions. It’s part of the workflow for most brokers of spot truckload freight. The acquisition will expand DAT’s ability to provide real-time GPS tracking and load optimization on the DAT One platform.
